POEM FOR WOMEN. . .
This was sent to me by a friend this morning, right when I needed a good laugh.
I shave my legs, I sit down to pee.
And I can justify any shopping spree.
Don't go to a barber, but a beauty salon.
I can get a massage without a hard-on.
I can balance the checkbook,
I can pump my own gas.
Can talk to my friends about the size of my ass.
My beauty's a masterpiece and yes, it takes long.
At least I can admit to others when I'm wrong.
I don't drive in circles, at any cost.
And I don't have a problem admitting I'm lost.
I never forget an important date.
You just gotta deal with it, I'm usually late.
I don't watch movies with lots of gore.
Don't need instant replay to remember the score.
I won't lose my hair, I don't get jock itch.
And just cause I'm assertive, Don't call me a bitch.
Don't say to your friends, Oh yeah, I can get her.
In your dreams, my dear, I can do better!
Flowers are okay,
But jewelry's best.
Look at me you idiot...
Not at my chest!!!
I don't have a problem,
With expressing my feelings.
I know when you're lying,
You look at the ceiling.
DON'T call me a GIRL ,
a BABE or a CHICK .
I am a WOMAN.
Get it?, you DICK!?!

I've Been Robbed!!!!
Figures. . . . Somebody bought the earings I wanted. . . There were two pair still in the case last week and both were gone this morning when I got there. . . The NERVE!!! Since I didn't see anything else I liked, no new Bling Bling for Lauren.
I did buy a new pot and macrame' hanger for Large Marge (Marge is my Boston Fern), since she was getting very root-bound. So, it was time to give HER a new outfit (I'd be jealous, but I look terrible in macrame'). . . I was even able to transplant the old girl with minimal loss of fronds. I repotted my Pothos while I was at it, since he was outgrowing his pot too. Haven't found a name for the little guy yet. . . Suggestions???
The other big score today was new towels for the guest bathroom. I had been looking for something super plush in a cream colour. I found them at Sears of all places. At 50% off, I wasn't about to pass. . . Can't wait to try them out. . .
By now, I'm sure Babs is stuffed with brisket (I'm SOOOO jealous!!) and all the fixins'. I still think she should at least express mail a sandwich to each of us. . . Seems only fair. . .
Enough of my rambling on. . . Hope you all had a great day!!!

Holiday Get-Together Postponed
After consulting with Mom and Sis (Sis has the flu), we decided our Holiday dinner will be on New Year's Day instead of tomorrow. . . A wise decision, all things considered.
Sooooooo. . . Looks like I have an open calendar for tomorrow. . .
There was this really cool pair of Sterling earings I was just looking at last week. . . Guess where I'll be in the morning?? I'm a sucker for Sterling and shoes. . . . 60% off??....... BONUS!!!!!
Have a good night all!!!

Merry Christmas!!!! . . .
. . . To all of you who celebrate the occasion. I hope each of you has a wonderful day whether you are with family, or simply spending a quiet day at home.
It has been raining and foggy here in Motown since yesterday afternoon. Kinda gloomy, but if this were snow, we'd be in, well, DEEP SNOW!! There's my little silver lining for the day LOL!!!
I started a new blog this morning that will be dedicated to my Transgender issues. You'll find it in my links, or you can go to: http://diariesofatgirl.blogspot.com Just one (extremely long) post there so far, but I'll be adding more on a regular basis. I hope you'll stop by. . . Comments welcome as always. . .

Pretty Accurate Actually
You Have a Melancholic Temperament |
Introspective and reflective, you think about everything and anything. You are a soft-hearted daydreamer. You long for your ideal life. You love silence and solitude. Everyday life is usually too chaotic for you.
Given enough time alone, it's easy for you to find inner peace. You tend to be spiritual, having found your own meaning of life. Wise and patient, you can help people through difficult times.
At your worst, you brood and sulk. Your negative thoughts can trap you. You are reserved and withdrawn. This makes it hard to connect to others. You tend to over think small things, making decisions difficult. |

Well. . . That Was A First
Many thanks to Schree (lovelylady) and Baby for having me on the show tonight. . . I was so nervous, I could hardly talk. I've never done anything like that before.
Funny. . . I can talk to my TG girlfriends about pretty much anything. . . Getting on the radio and doing it is another thing completely!! I'm so glad I did it though. . . I almost didn't call, since Schree's Mom arrived early and was a guest on the show. . . What a great suprise for her!!!
Guess as long as I'm up I'll head to the market and get a few groceries I need. . .
Later!!!

To Borrow A Phrase From Apos. . .
I'm FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!
*Lauren does handsprings and cartwheels* (The old bitch will pay dearly for that move tomorrow LOL!!!)
No more Homophobia Central (the Office) for 10 whole days!!!!!!!! Ten wonderful, blissful, hang out in my jammies all day, days off. . . . I don't have to look at that fucking place again until January 3. . .
I'm going to pick up a stack of DVDs later today and catch up on some movies I want to see. . . Pay-Per-View on DTV also has some great movies in the lineup this month.
I am also going to be the Resume' Queen. . . . I have to find a new job and get out of there. . . I love what I do, I just hate the people I work with. . . Enough of them. . . .
I have a few little household projects I'm going to work on too. . . Nothing major, since the budget is shot until Tax refund time. . . Just some things I've been putting off. I might add a few new posts here too. . .
I will also be here for all of my blog friends. . . Those of us who deal with depression need a good support network this time of year. I'm sure I'll have my bad moments like many others. But, I'm here for anyone, any time. . . And I'll be making my daily rounds of my blog buddies. . .
Almost forgot. . . . I'm going to try my best to listen to Schree and Baby tonight. . . I may take her up on the offer to call in. . . Might be fun!!!
If we don't connect before. . . Have a Happy Holiday!!!!

This One Is For Chattymoon. . .
I'm writing this with Linda in mind, but I'm sure you'll all appreciate it. . .
A week or so ago, Chattymoon wrote about some of the Holiday treats she remembered from her youth. That brought back some memories for me as well. . . But, one item stood out above the rest. It was her mention of Christmas Pudding that brought those fond memories flooding back.
Christmas Pudding is also known as Plum Pudding to some, and more commonly here in the US it's called Steamed Pudding. . . You can look it up on your own, so I won't go into the details, other than to say it's a divine experience. . . You have NEVER tasted anything like it. . .
In talking to my mother earlier this evening, she mentioned that she was making something for our Holiday dinner on Monday that I haven't had in years. . . You guessed it. . . Steamed Pudding!!! How wierd is that??? Of course, I had to relate the rest of the story to Mom. Her response was that something in the back of her mind just told her to make it. . .
The rest of the menu sounds equaly delightful. . . Trouble is, she'll never let me contribute to the meal, even though she loves my cooking. . . Guess I'll just have to have them here for dinner soon. . .
Linda, you dear sweet woman. . . Thanks!!!!

OH GOODY!!!!
Today is the (first of several) family get-together at my Father's place. . . I am SOOO not looking forward to this. Being around him and the Stepmonster just puts me in a lousy mood (I'll explain why when I can sit down and write about it without going into a rant. It's pretty sick.).
My relationship with my Sis has also become strained. She has been really hard to be around this past year. She's not handling well the fact that her only child is now a grown woman and off to college. She just seems to find fault with everything in her life. She's also copped an attitude about our Mother that's really starting to piss me off. . . I love her dearly, but she needs to lighten up.
Oh well. . . At least my cousin will be there with her family. They're fun to be around and their little boy is so much fun to watch. He just turned 3 in October and is a bundle of energy. . .
Guess I'd better get my lazy ass going, get cleaned up and dressed. . . I know what I'd like to wear, but. . . . Not a good day to start a war.
This too shall pass. . . . Just not fast enough for me. . . .

SHIT SHIT SHIT!!!!
It has snowed here all freakin' day long. . . About 6 inches so far. My satelite dish is clogged with snow, so no CSI for me tonight. It's about 25 feet up on the roof, so I'm not about to climb up there. . . You'd think Direct TV would have a cure for this. . . I'll give it until I get home tomorrow before I raise hell with them. . . This has only happened 4 times in the 6 years I've had a dish, so I can't get too upset. But, it's never been out for more than a couple of hours. . . Until tonight. . . DAMMIT!!!

Merry FREAKIN' Christmas To Me!!!
I finally broke down and bought new tires for my truck today. . . I was NOT going to go through another snow storm on the ones I had. . . When it was all over, I had almost enough left from $500.00 to buy a bottle of cheap wine and a Taco Combo. . . ALMOST!!!
So. . . . That's my Christmas present to myself. . . At least I don't have to wonder at every intersection if I'm going to be able stop or not. . . And I can drive up the approach to my garage without sliding all over the place (It appears that our new snow crew doesn't approve of road salt).

Betcha Didn't Know. . .
We are all familiar with the Holiday tradition of kissing under the Mistletoe. . . But, where did this all start, you ask?? OK. . .So you didn't, but I'm gonna tell ya anyway. . . It's my BLOG. . So there. . .
The tradition dates back to 17th century England, when the mistletoe was hung in doorways as a symbol of good luck in the coming new year. Apparently, the kissing part was added because people felt they needed some excuse to share a smooch with their sweetie. . . Personally, ya don't have to ask me twice. . .
The interesting thing about this (you knew I'd get around to it eventually!!) is the word Mistletoe itself. It is a modern English term derived from the Old English word mistiltan. What is Mistiltan you ask?? OK, OK. . . I'm not going there again. . . "Tan" is the Old English word for "twig" and "mistil" in the olden days meant "dung."
So think about that the next time you're sneakin' a smooch under the "Dung Twig." . . . Ya just can't make this shit up. . .
Some brilliant soul at our local FOX News affiliate station actally thought this deserved air time. . . Guess it was easier to talk about than all those autoworkers about to lose their jobs.

We Morn Another Great Talent Lost
Richard Pryor, the caustic yet perceptive
actor-comedian who lived dangerously close to the edge
both on stage and off, died Saturday. He was 65.
Pryor died shortly before 8 a.m. of a heart attack
after being taken to a hospital from his home in the
San Fernando Valley, said his business manager, Karen
Finch. He had been ill for years with multiple
sclerosis, a degenerative disease of the nervous
system.
"We loved him and will miss you," his ex-wife, Flynn
Pryor, said from her Florida home.
Pryor was regarded early in his career as one of the
most foul-mouthed comics in the business, but he
gained a wide following for his expletive-filled but
universal and frequently personal insights into modern
life and race relations.
His audacious style influenced an array of stand-up
artists, including Robin Williams, David Letterman
and others.
His films included "Stir Crazy," "Silver Streak,"
"Which Way Is Up?" and "Richard Pryor Live on the
Sunset Strip."
Throughout his career, Pryor focused on racial
inequality, once joking as the host of the 1977
Academy Awards that he and Sidney Poitier were the
only black members of the Academy.
Daughter Rain became an actress. In an interview in
2005, she told the Philadelphia Inquirer that her
father always "put his life right out there for you to
look at. I took that approach because I saw how well
audiences respond to it. I try to make you laugh at
life."

My Letter To The Big Guy
Dear Obese Trespassing Altruist,
This year, I have been a very manipulative little TV watcher. I have compulsively cheated, and I have rarely helped my mommy’s “special friend” with their pyramid schemes. And I always say thank you, which makes me seem like I care, and so I deserve lots of age-inappropriate pants this year!
Please bring all this stuff for me and the people in my life: For my mommy, please bring Valium. For my daddy, please bring a new dead-end job. For my little sister, please bring a diaphragm. For my hampster, please bring non-surgical sterilization. Oh – and for my cleaning lady, please bring some work ethic.
Now about me! Please bring me all of the Spongebob Squarepants beer coozies, and front row tickets to Britney Spears – plus backstage passes so I can get coked up! Oh, and please don’t forget to bring my Lamborghini Diablo VT 6.0. But if you can’t, just remember that more than anything Santa, what I really really want is just $100,000,000!
Anyway, I hope you like the eight-ball I left out for you.
Yours,
Lauren
PS: Please say hello to Mrs. Claus.
PPS: Oh yeah, and remember Martha Stewart? She has been a really corrupt cry-baby all year long and doesn’t deserve any Christmas presents. So please don’t forget to put dog shit in their stocking.
PPPS: One last thing. . . Please bring Soonerfan78 some new meds. . . 'Cause that boy aint right!!!!
Thanks!

First Winter Blast
Looks like we'll get our first real blast of the season tonight. It's snowing like crazy. Up to 6 inches by most estimates. Glad I don't have far to drive to work.
I got a kick out of Babs' entries yesterday about the sleet and freezing rain in Dallas. It's hard to remember that they don't have the equipment to deal with it there. Here, it's just another bump in the morning drive. The plows will clear the bulk in the early morning and the big orange "saltshakers" will do their magic to take care of the rest. . . A few thousand tons of salt and we're back in business.
Like anywhere, the stores were selling out of bread and milk tonight. I get a kick out of that too, since I use almost no milk and a loaf of bread will last two weeks for me (I have to freeze it to keep it from going bad).
The local news stations are all starting up at 4:30 AM instead of 5:30 to "Help us cope." It's snow for Pete's sake!!!. . . Leave early, take your time and watch out for the Super Soccer Mom's in their Explorers, Durangos and other SAVs (Soccer-Mom Assault Vehicles), since they have 4-wheel drive and think they are unstopable (is that a word??). . . Until they miss that corner and end up in the ditch LOL!!!
Winter in Motown is SOOOOOOOO much fun!!!! NOT!!!

2005 - Lauren's Year In Review
Well. . . . Since Babs tagged me, I guess I need to step up to the challenge. . . . You asked. . . .
1. What did you do in 2005 that you hadn't done before?
Designed and executed a complete decorating plan for my home including furniture, paint, new lighting fixtures and accent pieces.
2. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Two of my co-workers became first-time fathers. It’s fun watching them turn to mush over their new daughters.
3. Did anyone close to you die?
My friend Paul died suddenly in April. Massive heart attack. He was only 51.
4. A -Did you travel?
Unfortunately, my summer travel plans were dashed when the Michigan Treasury Department demanded payment of tobacco taxes for cigarettes I purchased from out of state. They went back to 2000. . . $3,400.00 later. . . . It was pay or go to jail. . .
4 B - Where did you go?
From broke to broker LOL!!!
4 C - Best holiday memory?
I really don’t get excited about holidays. . . It’s all too commercial any more.
5. Best thing you bought?
My new living room furniture (1 week before I got hit with 4A).
6. Where did most of your money go?
See 4A and 5 LOL!!!
7. What do you wish you had done more of?
Taking time off from work. . . I still have 2 weeks of vacation to use it by March 1, 2006 or I lose it. . .
8. What do you wish you had done less of?
Working 60 hour weeks
9. What kept you sane?
Are you serious??? Me sane????
10. What drove you mad?
The homophobic attitudes of several of my co-workers. . . This senseless war in Iraq. . . Watching right-wing Christian bigots get their way with our national leadership. . . Watching round after round of cuts at my job, knowing I could be next at any time.
11. What made you celebrate?
My Niece was crowned Homecoming Queen (OK, that was in 2004), graduated from High School with Honors and has gone off to college. She is so grown up now. . . .
12. What made you sad?
See 4A, 7, 8 and 10. . .
13. How was your birthday this year?
I don’t have birthdays. . . Age is a number. I am only as old as I feel. . .
14. What political issue stirred you the most this year?
President Shit-For-Brains and his stupid war in Iraq killing our young people for no good reason. And killing people over there for no good reason. The renewed campaign by right-wing bigots to legislate non-heterosexual people out of existence. . . Or at least back into the closet. . . I’m GENDER-DIFFERENT. . . Deal with it!!!!!!!
15. Where you in love in 2005?
No. I fear it may be a long time before I have enough trust in another human being to say, honestly, I am in love with them in the romantic sense.
16. What would you like to have in 2006 that you didn't have this year?
A new job where I’m not constantly worried that I may be unemployed at any moment. A job where I don’t have to listen to a bunch of homophobic males use the word FAG on a daily basis. . . My self-confidence back so I can get out and enjoy myself. . .
17. What date from 2005 will be etched in your memory and why?
April 12, the day my friend Paul died so suddenly.
18. What song will remind you of 2005?
No contest here. . . Rob Thomas. . . Lonely No More. . .
19. Compared to this time last year are you happier?
No.
20. Biggest achievement this year?
My first total home decorating effort. All the hours of painting, shopping, rearranging, searching for just the right accessories are rewarded every time someone walks in and says WOW!
21. Biggest disappointment this year?
The giant step backward I have taken in my gender identity issues. . . I miss being out in the world, having fun with others. I really don’t understand what has happened to me or why. . .
22. What is the one thing that would have made you more satisfied?
Not having to write the answer I just made to question 21.
23. Best new person you met this year?
Naming just one is not possible. . . . All of my new Blog friends are so special to me. Several new people I have met face-to-face are also hard to choose between. . .
24. A valuable life lesson you learnt this year?
Friendship and trust are too valuable to lose.
Good or bad, there it is folks. . ..

More On My Tuesday Rant
This was just sent to me by an aquaintance. Seems that the GLBT community has some support after all. . . You'll find the backgrounds of a couple of folks mentioned in my rant yesterday VERY informative. . .
Blog On!!!!
Hey Girls. Read this in TransgenderNews ( a yahoo group ) and thought to post it here for us to read. Have to admit that I have a great deal of respect in these days and ages for a group that will stand up to the religious right and other groups who want everyone to bend and cater to THEIR needs and thoughts. Way to go, Wells Fargo. Woo WOO.
D
Gene StoneHuffington Post, NY12.06.2005http://www.huffingtonpost.com/gene-stone/wells-fargo-teaches-ford-_b_11777.html
As many people now know, Ford Motors is in the middle of a public affairs fiasco. Last week, after a meeting with the ultra-right wing American Family Association (AFA), Ford announced that it would abruptly pull all its advertising from gay publications.
Ford's spokesperson Mike Moran announced that Ford had agreed with the essence of AFA's complaints--that the company was far too tolerant, even supportive, of gays.
According to John Arovosis' Americablog, the two representatives of Ford who negotiated the deal with the AFA were a former Bush staffer and major GOP donor named Ziad Ojakli, who was also the Senate liaison for the Bush-Cheney Transition Team, as well as a legislative assistant to Sen. Dan Coats (R-IN), one of the Senate's most rightwing members; and David Leitch, a former deputy general counsel to President George W. Bush, and currently the general counsel at Ford.
In other words, Ford's total capitulation to the AFA and its homophobic demands was accomplished by former members of the BushWhite House.
Why is this not surprising?
Meanwhile, another far-group group, Focus on the Family, has announced that it will close all its Wells Fargo accounts because the San Francisco bank contributed to a gay rights group that promised to use the funds to "fight ... the anti-gay industry."
"We don't expect corporate America to do our bidding on the issues, but when they use the proceeds from our business and give them to others who clobber us over the head, we say enough is enough," said Focus on Family's Tom Minnery.
How did Wells Fargo respond? Did they immediately cave to the far-right, as Ford did?
From SFGate.com comes this quote from Chris Hammond, a spokesmen for Wells Fargo, which gives about two million dollars a year to gay and lesbian organizations: "We absolutely made a $50,000 grant to GLAAD, and we're absolutely proud of our support for the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community."
Wells Fargo has made it clear that it will spend its money, donate to community causes, and advertise as it wishes, not as the Bush White House and its rightwing cronies desire. Wells Fargo: a corporation willing to stand up to bigotry and intolerance. What a difference from Ford, the corporation that now seems to stand somewhere to the right of Antonin Scalia and Attila the Hun.
If you feel like it, send Wells Fargo a note telling them you appreciate their integrity.
Contact them at:https://www.wellsfargo.com/wf/contactus?_requestid=313724Copyright 2005 C HuffingtonPost.com, LLC

Lauren's Tuesday Rant!!!
Really Stupid Ways To Shoot Yourself In The Foot. . . . . A lesson in how NOT to market your product. . . .
This is part of an article in today's Detroit News. . . It will give you the gist of the issue. . .. .
Gay and lesbian advocacy groups sharply criticized Ford Motor Co. for agreeing to stop advertising in gay-themed publications in the face of a boycott by the conservative American Family Association.
The AFA, based in Tupelo, Miss., launched a boycott of Ford in May to protest marketing aimed at gay and lesbian consumers as well as benefits the company extends to same-sex couples. The boycott was suspended for six months in June when Ford and dealer representatives met with the group. With the boycott set to resume last week, Ford dispatched two top company officers -- Ziad Ojakli, group vice president for corporate affairs, and David Leitch, senior vice president and general counsel, and a top dealer to Tupelo to meet withAFA officials last Tuesday.
Ford told the AFA that its Ford, Lincoln and Mercury brands have not advertised in gay and lesbian publications and will not in the future, said Ford spokesman Mike Moran. Ford's Jaguar and Land Rover brands will no longer target gay consumers through advertising, a move Moran called a "business decision."
Only Volvo, Ford's Sweden-based brand, will continue marketing directly to gays and lesbians. After the meeting, AFA, which has 3 million members, agreed to lift the boycott. That has led some gay and lesbian organizations to say the automaker caved in to pressure from the religious right. . . . .
Me again. . . .
Let's see if I have this right. . . Ford caves to a group of Christian zealots (The American Family Association), numbering less than 3 million members and in the process stands to lose buyers from the GLBT community, which (estimates vary widely here) numbers as many as 26 million in the US alone.
Ford currently commands about 18% of the US market. That said, 18% of the 2.8 million AFA members would be 504,000 "potential" sales, versus 18% of the 26 million estimated GLBT buyers, or 4.68 million "potential" sales. . . . What's wrong with THIS picture?????
No wonder another 4000 Ford white collar workers are being cut after the first of the year (based on press releases from Ford). . . GEE another 4000 or more potential sales lost. . . . can you say "snowball effect?????"
YEP!!! I'd say it's time to send a message to Mr. Ford. . . "Not only does your football team SUCK!!!, so does your ability to read your market potential. . ."
I also have a message for the AFA. . . . GO POUND SAND YOU BIGOTED ASSHOLES!!!!!
End of rant!!!

One Day Of Silence
Out of respect for our dear friend Barb, this blog shall also remain silent for 24 hours. There are no words to describe this tragic loss.

Just A Quick Note. . .
This has been one long-ass day. At work by 7:00. Came home at 5 PM, long enough to change my clothes and back out the door for a business dinner. It's coming up on 9 PM and I'm beat. Sorry if I didn't answer your note. . . I'll try to catch up tomorrow night.
Thank you for all of the wonderful comments about my kitty Boris. . . I plan to write more about his misadventures soon. You'll come to understand why I called him Butthead. . . LOL!!! He was one very special boy. . .
HUGGSS!!
