In Memory Of Butthead

I ran across this picture of my kitty Boris tonight. I lost him in 2003 when a sudden illness forced me to have him put down. That was one of the hardest days of my life.

I got Boris as a kitten in 1998. I called him Butthead almost from day one, because he was constantly getting into trouble. But, despite his misadventures, I loved this little guy more than any animal I ever shared a house with.

I miss you Butthead. . . There will never be another like you. . . Rest easy.

Just One Example Of How "WE" Are Treated. . .

. . .I think some of you can now relate. . .

The story below (in blue) was posted today on one of the Transgender support websites I belong to. I don't know Nikki personally, but I know dozens more just like her. This is just one example of the way transgendered people are treated in the world. I'll continue my comments after. . . . Apologies for the long post. . .

A manager at a (think major electronics chain. . . BB) store contacted me after seeing my AOL profile, looking for a team leader in cameras. He all but begged me to fill out an application, which I did. I was so happy, here was an employer who already knew I was transgendered and wanted me to join the team! I am very qualified to do this job, since I currently work for a competitor. I was willing to change companies, especially one so transgender friendly. After 2 days he said they didn't receive the application I filled out on line. I told him I filled it out using my legal name and it was at that point he figured out I was transgendered and poof! Nothing else was heard! Now I noticed that on about the third page of said application it said that they don't discriminate based on gender identity. Well, that's not really true is it? Look, I'm not surprised. This happens to people like me on a daily basis and since this is the attitude of (major retailer. . . BB) I'm not going to sue them or anything. In fact, I want nothing at all to do with them in the future. But what I am going to do is post this letter on my blog and every transgender new group I belong to.

Nikki

Me again. . . . This is a fairly typical example of what the Transgendered community lives with every day (I checked Nikki's AOL profile and it states she is TG). Those who have chosen to start the transition process find that their existing job will suddenly be gone and future employment is, at best, bottom of the barrel. It doesn't matter that many of us have advanced degrees, or other job skills that would, ordinarily, be the primary consideration. Instead, we are viewed as freaks. Many are beaten or murdered outright. Many die by their own hand when they finally just give up.

I am the same person, with the same skills, same personality and same desire to contribute, regardless of my outward appearance. We don't ask to be this way. It's not a concious decision. A certain percentage of people in the world are born with one physical gender ID, while their entire inner being is the other. It's a difficult concept for most people. I know that all too well. It took me over 40 years to come to terms with it. Even then not completely, so far.

I wrote an essay about a year ago that was never published as originally promised. It's too long to post here in one piece, but I may be able to break it up over a few days. It might give people a little better idea of what being Transgendered is really like. . .

I really do appreciate the acceptance I have had amongst the people I blog with. I started my first Blog with the idea that I'd try it to see what would happen. I had no idea I would be accepted the way you folks have taken me in.

Thanks. . . I needed that. . .

Much love. . .

Well. . .Now I've Done It. . .

I wasn't going to put a picture back up, but I decided this was something I needed to do. I don't know why I get so uptight about it. That picture was taken on one of the happiest days of my life. It was something of a "coming out" event for me, although I didn't really think of it that way at the time.

Somewhere along the way, I forgot what that was like. Just being myself, the opinions of others be damned. . . I'm going to get that back. I'm going to stop using excuses about why I'm not out having fun. I have no excuse. . . It's time to get off my dead ass and enjoy myself. . . I can do this.

You are all witnesses. . .

Good Holiday Eats

Babs and Denise talking about turkey leftovers brought to mind another one of my favorite "Family Gathering" foods. . . Ham. I love ham and use it as part of my regular meal rotation year-round. Hamhocks and ham shanks are a standard item in my bean soup, red beans and rice and several of my other favorites.

But when it comes to serving a ham for dinner, there is only one choice for me. Dearborn Sausage Co. http://www.dearbornsausage.com/ makes THE BEST glazed, spiral-sliced ham I have ever tasted. The hams you get from Honey Baked Ham Co. are good, but can't even begin to compete with a Dearborn ham. The difference? Dearborn brand does not inject their hams with water for processing to increase the weight. The added water cooking out of a normal ham carries a lot of flavour with it. Their glaze seals the natural moisture in and makes for a taste like no other.

I know, I know. . . That sounds like a commercial, but I recommend products based on my experience with them. Their entire product line is great from hot dogs to lunch meats and sausage. I don't buy anything else. Try the hotlink above. They'll ship anywhere and are just great people to do busines with. This is a small family-owned business that has been around the Motown area for many years.

Enjoy!

Scratching The Itch

I have come to one undeniable conclusion about myself. . . . This girl needs to GET LAID!!! SOON!!

Let's not even go into how long it's been. Suffice it to say. . . TOO FREAKIN' LONG!!
This past week I have been one uptight little horny girl. Not sure why, but it's been getting worse by the day. Yet, here I sit on a Saturday night. . . Pretty lame. . . I haven't been out in weeks. Go to work, come home, eat, blog, sleep. . . Repeat. . . With an occasional trip out for groceries. . . How DO I keep up this pace? LOL!!

Guess I know what I need to work on. I know someone isn't going to just knock on the door. Might be interesting though. . . HHmmmmm. . .

Now They've Gone Too Far!!!!

Chattymoon has had her IP address BANNED from Blogster for expressing her opinion. She posted a copy of what she sent to the new "Editor" earlier today. It was in no way offensive or the least bit mean-spirited. . . We all know Linda isn't capable of that to begin with.

As far as I'm concerned, Blogster no longer exists. Anyone who chooses to stay there is entitled to do so, but I'll have no further contact with anyone there. Frick and Frack are doing the same thing to Blogster they did to Wholesale411.com.

If you want a good look at what Tony and Ed are all about, take a look at the URL below. I mean really, could this many people be wrong?

http://www.ripoffreport.com/results.asp?q1=ALL&q5=wholesale411&submit2=Search%21&q4=&q6=&q3=&q2=&q7=&searchtype=0

These two idiots are in it for the quick buck. Drain the cash and run. .

I feel so bad about Chatty. . . She didn't deserve to be treated that way.

Blogster Casualties & Other Ramblings

If you want to get an idea of the casualties at Blogster, go take a look at the "Most Popular Blogs" list. Lotsa names missing. It's not petty. There are bloggers in the top 10 most popular that haven't posted since as far back as May!!!! That should tell newcomers something. . . I also stopped by CBs new Blog to get the lowdown on his disappearance. What a pair of buttholes Frick and Frack turned out to be. Maybe a letter campaign to Blogster advertisers is in order?

I talked myself out of going to the Big Box Market. The early news showed lots already filling up at 5 AM. I would hate to ruin my day by having to club my way through all those brain dead people just taking up space. I'll go to the produce market to get what I need.

Hope y'all have a great weekend. I'm going to play around with my template and change this ugly-ass green colour scheme. Doesn't seem to be too big a deal.

Middle Of The Night Blog

I finally had a chance to listen to Schree and Baby live tonight. But, I only caught the last 30 minutes. Good stuff. . . Well, except for that pumpkin suggestion at the end. . . (EEWWWWW!!!). Don't ask.

So here I am, 3:30 AM, wide awake. There isn't shit on TV, so maybe I'll go to the market before the Day 2 insanity starts.

I can't beleive how people get worked up over shopping the day after Thanksgiving. It's like a feeding frenzy. We actually had a mini-riot here at two different Wally-Worlds over a cheap laptop computer. The local cops were not happy. Some guy and his little girl were both injured when they were trampled in the rush to get the few computers in stock. Just one more reason I refuse to have any part of this crap. I just don't get it.

What's Done Is Done

I have delivered my parting shot to the "Owners" of what used to be a great Blogsight. . . I suspect my page will deleted shortly. Their loss. All the good folks are here now.

Drop me a note when you get a few minutes.

Another Blogster Migrant

Well, here I am folks . . . Another displaced (former) member of Blogster coming to my new home. My old blog is still active as of 8:00 AM today, but once I leave my parting shot with Niel & Bob and the Bimbo Editor, I suspect I'll be sent to electron hell like Babs and many other were with no warning.

It will take me a little while to get used to my new space, but once I'm set up, I'll be stopping by your blogs more often.

Hope you all had a safe Thanksgiving and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
